doctor denies manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson in Los Angeles in 2009
A jury in Los Angeles will begin deliberations in the case of Michael Jackson's doctor on Friday after a six-week murder trial in the death of the pop star in 2009.
Finally, arguments prosecutors said Jackson "paid with his life" for the criminal negligence of Dr Conrad Murray. Defense lawyers said Murray was to be responsible for his own actions Jackson.
"For a crime must be proved, the prosecution must show that Dr Murray actually killed Michael Jackson," said defense attorney Ed Chernoff jury Thursday.
"They want to convict Murray for the actions of Michael Jackson," Chernoff said. "If it was none other than Michael Jackson, that the doctor be here today?"
Chernoff asked the jury to remember that the victim was a pop star. "If you're going to hold Dr. Murray responsible, do not do it because it's Michael Jackson. This is not a reality show. This is the reality."
Jackson was found dead at his home in Los Angeles June 25, 2009. It was then decided to have died from an overdose of propofol, which is normally used in surgery, and sedatives.
The defense argued that the singer was dependent on propofol. Desperate to sleep, probably gave a lethal dose of the powerful anesthetic, as well as swallowing a handful of sedatives, without the knowledge of Murray, defense lawyers argued.
